Why to be Proud of our country

There are so many reasons to be proud of our country. For starters we live in a free country where we can do anything we want. We also are able to have freedom of speech, we can talk about anything we w ant without getting in trouble, such as politics or religion. Most of other countries aren't allowed to do the things that the United States are able to do. The main reason why we get to do the things we do is because every day is people that give their lives for the freedom of the United States. A lot of countries you don't have a choice, at a certain age you have to join the army. In the U.S. we don't have to do anything like that because every day there are brave people that volunteer to fight for our country. Not only do we fight for our country, we also help fight for other countries when they need the help most.
We should be proud of our country, because of everything our country has done to bring freedom to it, and to others. Also we have fought it many wars and we have never lost if the war concerned the United States or not. That shows the patriotism this country has. That is why I am proud of my country.

Baseball Field in Neighborhood

In my neighborhood there are a lot of kids and friends of mine that like to play baseball. In the past we have tried to come together to play a game with each in whoever’s yard is the largest. Most of the time it would result in a really weird looking field with a lot of obstacles such as trees and of course other houses, and if it doesn’t end in that, it ends with something ends up being broken because of being hit by a baseball. Which is why I think my neighborhood should get a baseball park in it.
There are so many reasons why my neighborhood should get a baseball field. To start off in my neighborhood I can name at least ten people that play baseball, and a lot of them come to my house to play the closest thing to real baseball we can get, tennis ball baseball. Unfortunately it is not nearly as fun as it would be playing real baseball, because it’s just a better game to play when you’re using a hardball and a hard bat. It is also more exciting playing real baseball when there’s nothing to worry about. In the past we had attempted at playing real baseball but it usually ended up to breaking something or hitting the baseball over the neighbor’s fence, which did not make them happy at all. It would be a good idea to get a baseball field because it would provide a spacious place to play baseball without getting in trouble with any of the neighbors.
When my neighborhood was being built there was supposed to be a park in it, including a baseball field. Unfortunately the person who designed the neighborhood died, so his son took over. He took out the idea of having a park in the neighborhood. Now since then there have been many more houses that have been built in the neighborhood, and now there is no place for anybody who wants to play baseball actually play without either, driving a couple miles or having the option of trying your best to play in your backyard but have the possibility of dealing with the worried neighbors. I think having a park with a baseball field would be a really good thing for my neighborhood because a lot of people play but there is no where people can really go hit a baseball hard without breaking a window. So I think that getting a field would be a really good idea not just for the people living there now, but also for people that will be living in these houses in the future.

Response to “Casey at the Bat” by Ernest Thayer

By: Sean Beecher

Casey at the bat is a poem in which a baseball team is losing their game in the ninth inning. In the first paragraph it talks about that the first two batters in the game both “died”, so they got out. The major conflict is that they are down four to two in the last half inning.
In the next following paragraphs everybody seems to be having their hopes down because their team has one out left in the game. When the crowd started getting down, the team showed a little bit of life left in them when Flynn singled and Blake hit a double. That left runners on third base and second base.
Then the crowd seemed to have hope in their team when their most anticipated batter stepped up to the plate, Casey. The crowd thought that Casey was for sure going to get a hit. It seemed that Casey was into himself showing off to the crowd and such.
Than Casey steps into the batter’s box at this point in the game a couple thousand eyes are watching him in the stands, so there is a lot of pressure on him right now. Casey let two strikes go right through for two called strikes, which the fans did not like at all. They booed him and taunted the umpire saying things like kill him. At this point in the story he cannot go back no walking out, no redo and he had one more strike before he struck out and let down his team.
The story says that when he steps back up into the batter’s box it looks like Casey is not going to miss any more pitches. The author describes his look as a look of confidence. But unfortunately the tragic part about this story is that even though he felt confident on a 0-2 count he swung and miss at the third pitch. The game was over he blew it for his team. And the whole city was dead with silence that day. Casey striking out is defiantly a big part of this story. I believe that this story has some tragic and comedic things in this story.
