Authors Note: I am writing this essay to show the similarities and differences between Peter and Poneyboy
In this essay we will be comparing Poneyboy, the main character from the story of the outsiders. The person we will be comparing him to is Peter Treegate, from the book John Treegate’s musket. They both come from totally different backgrounds. Peter is from 1769 Boston. As for Poneyboy he comes from a broken family and is in a gang. Surprisingly enough they have more in common than you would believe them to have by first thought. The two characters are similar in quite a few ways actually; they have similar personalities that are one of a few similarities they have. They also have some differences between them.
Poneyboy and Peter are completely different characters from completely different backgrounds but they are actually in some ways alike. Such as in the beginning of John Treegate’s Musket Peter is an eleven year old boy under the apprenticeship of Mr. Fielding his dad went to England to negotiate the red coat problem that the city of Boston is having. In the beginning of the book Peter is a pretty small eleven year old kid not looking for any trouble. He has a pretty laid back personality. The main character in the outsiders is Poneyboy. He comes from a background of no family and he is part of a gang. You would not think that these two characters are much alike but the actually are.
Some of the similarities that the two characters have are that they both are pretty innocent in their books. Poneyboy may be in a gang but if anything he certainly does not like to get into fights. As for Peter he is pretty innocent in his way to just trying to be a good kid while his dad is overseas. But one thing the both share is that as their book progresses that they lose their innocence. Peter becomes stronger and tougher and less afraid of the world after running away and ending up with the Maclaren, who teaches Peter everything he know. As for Poneyboy he loses his innocence by ending up in a couple fights that not only get him in trouble but his whole gang.
Poneyboy and Peter are similar in many ways, although at the same time they also have many differences. One of the differences for example between the two characters is that Poneyboy always stays close to his family through the book, staying loyal to his gang. Peter on the other hand gets farther and farther away from his father disconnecting their relationship until the last couple chapters because his father left him to go to England for a while. They have totally different family lives. Additionally both characters are laid back softies. However they also have differences such as their family lives throughout their stories.
I wrote this essay to explain the similarities and differences between Poneyboy and Peter. The Outsiders and John Treegate's Musket are two good books with two characters that showed similarities and differences, hopefully by reading this you will understand the similarities and differences a little bit better.
I real like how you somewhat drag us into the essay and how you use transitions when needed. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI think that I should get an 85 or a 90 on this paper. Personally I like how I wrote it, and there is nothing I would really change about it.
ReplyDeletei like the title and the body paragraph but the format looks off and there is no authors note
